Madden Curse Avoided
By Viking Visionary | April 25, 2008
Whew! That was close. Word has leaked that the player gracing the cover of EA Sports Madden 2009 will NOT be Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Instead, recently retired Brett Favre will be the one trying to escape the curse. Heck, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad now if he decided to come out of retirement.
Perhaps this is the video game company’s way of trying to at least temporarily interrupt the popular talk of the so called curse put on players who appear on the cover of Madden. More likely it is an attempt to tap the quarterback’s popularity one last time. On the flip side, I have to wonder if sales will dramatically drop in the state of Minnesota.
Other things we at VikeVision wonder about:
- How dominant will they make Adrian Peterson? If there is anything that could sell a game with Brett Favre on the cover to a Vikings fan, its the prospect of controlling the Purple Phenom.
- How bad will they make Aaron Rodgers? This is important since Favre should not be in the game.
- Since Favre is on the cover, will they have some kind of special Interception mode?
Maybe having Farve on the cover is not such a bad thing. Since he is not playing, perhaps the curse will have to fall on all his former teammates. For those of you who want to preorder the game (it will be released Aug 12) so you can run all over the Pack with Peterson and crush Aaron Rodgers with Jared Allen, you can do so with these links.

Maybe Farve should come back now that he’s on the cover…would love to see him fall prey to the curse!
