Why Vikings Will Not Trade For Cutler
By Viking Visionary | March 17, 2009
Although it gives Vikings’ fans something to get all excited about, it is really not worth getting your hopes up for the Vikings to trade for Jay Cutler. It’s just not going to happen.
There are at least three teams who will make stronger plays for Cutler than the Vikings would. I am not even going to consider and teams in the AFC because I don’t think the Broncos are that stupid. In the NFC, the Bears, Lions and Bucs are all viable landing places for Cutler. Each team has a higher first round choice than the Vikes at pick 22, none higher than the Lions’ #1 overall. And on top of that, each of those teams has a greater need at quarterback than the Vikings think they do. And finally, none of the aforementioned teams traded half their draft last year for Jared Allen.
The Vikings like their quarterback situation enough that they would not be willing to go all out to get Cutler, and that is what it is going to take.

Ma’am, you are 100% correct. Disregarding the argument that Jay Cutler is actually only a little batter than Tarvaris or Sage and has been expertly coached in the past to put him in that position, the Vikings will pass on giving away the farm for him leaving your logic about going him to Detroit or Chicago all the better. The Vikings need to build there O line to ensure 10 plus wins every year. Hopefully the brain trusts hopes for just that.
